Thermal imaging to protect your assets
According to NZ Fire Service statistics electrical fires account for nearly 25% of recorded incidents for fires in structures; of those fires 40% originated in a switchboard.
Infra-red thermography plays a vital role in identifying a wide range of problems within an electrical system and is a non-invasive means in which to carry out preventative or predictive maintenance.
Elektron
Elektron undertakes infrared inspections using the latest Fluke® thermal imaging cameras and provides a comprehensive and un-biased survey report. While other companies can provide the thermal imaging component of the inspection, Elektron can provide a full electrical survey at the same time. This is because our technicians that perform the survey are both Level 1 certified Thermograhers and registered Electricians / Electrical Inspectors with the Electrical Workers Registration Board.
How it works
A thermal graphic scan detects abnormally high temperature within electrical components. An increase in the temperature of a specific electrical component often precedes faults. In more severe cases damaging and dangerous electrical fires can occur. Thermal imaging cameras allow easy identification of these “hot” electrical components that can cause problems without being intrusive and without having the need to isolate power to your critical infrastructure.
Benefits
Prevent electrical failures and faults by identifying and replacing high risk electrical components that are likely to fail in the near future.
Lower your cost by replacing the identified issues and not waiting until a costly repair is required.
Reduce expensive down time in your business.
Add value to your Health and Safety policy and program.
Satisfying insurance requirements.

Report
At the completion of the survey a detailed survey report will be emailed to you that will include the following.
All assets that were inspected.
Thermal images and digital images of defects that were found including severity of fault and recommendations for repair.
Other electrical defects that were found including severity of fault and recommendations for repair.
